  5.                      What is SHAREWARE ?
  6.       
  7. SHAREWARE is computer software that has been developed for sale
  8. but which is not distributed through normal retail outlets. 
  9. Either a full, working copy or a 'crippled' or limited version of
  10. the software is distributed by individuals, BBS's, or Shareware
  11. vendors. If a person tries it and likes it, they register their
  12. use of the software with the owner, and they also send a
  13. registration fee.  If they have been using a limited version of
  14. the software, then they will receive a full working copy in
  15. return from the developer.

  17. You now have a full working copy of FLOPYCAT, so if you decide to
  18. keep and use it on a regular basis, then you are expected, in the
  19. spirit of Shareware, to pay a registration fee for each copy you
  20. intend to install and use.

  22. SHAREWARE is usually developed by an individual working on a
  23. shoestring budget in the hopes of selling enough copies to cover
  24. development expenses and perhaps to also make a small profit. By
  25. avoiding the expenses of fancy packaging, advertising and
  26. distribution, the SHAREWARE developer is able to keep the cost of
  27. the software down to much less than normal 'retail' software
  28. prices. However, the quality and usefulness of SHAREWARE software
  29. is at least as good as, and frequently better than that available
  30. from software sold in retail stores.

  32. If you register your usage of FLOPYCAT, your name will be kept on
  33. file and you will be notified when the next version, with more
  34. features, is available. Also, if you have any problems with the
  35. software you can report those problems to the address shown
  36. below, and they will be resolved as quickly as possible.

  38. To register your use of the software, please complete and mail a
  39. copy of the Shareware Registration form, and include the fee
  40. appropriate to your intended use.

  42. Please feel free to pass on a copy of FLOPYCAT to friends,
  43. business associates, Bulletin Boards, etc. and encourage everyone
  44. to try it out, and to register their use of the software if they
  45. intend to keep and use it.

  48. FUTURE PLANS FOR FLOPYCAT:

  50. The possibility of future enhancements to FLOPYCAT depends very
  51. much on the success of Version 1.0   Things I plan to put in a
  52. future release, if one is to be done at all, are:

  54. 1)   Catalog entries to describe floppy disks as well as files
  55.  
  56. 2)   Searching for Catalog entries by full or partial description
  57.  
  58. 3)   On-line, context-sensitive HELP
  59.  
  60. 4)   Other suggestions submitted by users of Version 2.2
  61.

  63.      I hope you use and enjoy FLOPYCAT, and you find it of
  64. benefit to you, either at home or on the job.
